Pollution Problems in Pakistan

"Destruction is a man's will, Nevertheless Prevention is also a man's will, It’s a man's choice to choose between Destruction and Prevention" Babu Rajan. Likewise pollution is becoming a serious problem of the current scenario. With rapidly increasing industries especially in developing countries, the problem is of great extent. After the technical and industrial revolution, there has been a huge impact of man on environment. However in Pakistan the pollution problems have been rising since it got its independence. Very few people have concern about the negative effects of pollution on themselves as well as their environment. The major types of pollution in this country are noise, land or solid waste, water and air pollution; it doesn't mean that other kinds of pollution do not exist in Pakistan. All of these types are very dangerous and cause many diseases like cholera, increasing hearing problem, vomiting, hepatitis, kidney problems and lung cancer etc.
Noise pollution in Pakistan is increasing day by day especially in urban areas. As we all know the population of Pakistan is increasing day by day which leads to increasing of the transportation. Transportation is not only a cause of air pollution but also the major cause of noise pollution because there is not a proper system to control the transport and their unconditional noise.

If we talk about the land pollution we can say that the very first reason for land pollution can be our own mismanagement. We have no system to dispose wastes, be it the waste of our homes, parks, offices, street, town or city. We pay no heed to make a proper system to decompose the waste in Pakistan. With the growth of population the amount of solid waste generated is also escalating. There is no proper system and policies for recycle the waste in Pakistan. Without proper waste recycling system most of the waste contributes to landfills and dump-sites where it is often burned to reduce the volume which contributes to further pollution and greenhouse effect.
Water pollution in Pakistan is potent cause to many environmental and health issues. The main pollutants for the ground level waters are the industrial discharges and sewage waters which contaminate directly into water. Unfortunately, neither our government nor our citizens are vigilant enough to get all of us filtered water. Pipeline leakages and slum area populations are two more sources of water pollution in Pakistan.

Many people will never be bothered by air pollution because they don’t stop talking long enough to take a deep breath. Traffic congestion is one of the main causes of air pollution in Pakistan. The usage of old transports is ruining the situation. No prevailing laws are strictly implemented, as a result, factories exude their smoke into the air. In some predominant areas, main roads are widened but the status is worst inside the streets where with all the air pollution, people throw the garbage on the streets.
Pollution in Pakistan is insistently increasing and on the other hand, healthy environmental policies are not on the priority list, resulting the spread of so many diseases, for instance, asthma and lungs cancer etc. Government should make substantial environmental policies and should implement them rigorously. Awareness campaigns among people should be executed to educate them about their health and environment. So that in future, we may able to see our country with hygienic environment.
